You are invited to worship this Trinity Sunday weekend. Our Gospel reading comes from John 16:12-15: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you."

You are invited to worship this Pentecost weekend. We will hear the promise of the Holy Spirit in our Gospel reading, John 14:8-17: Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it. “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

The MEGA Garage Sale is here! Find clothing, furniture, luggage, housewares, bikes, electronics, toys, books and other gently used items - and support a good cause. The sale takes place today from 8:00am to 7:00pm, and tomorrow – Half-Price Day – from 8:00am to noon, at the Celebration Campus, 919 S. Washington Street. The sale includes “Drew’s Garden,” which offers a wide range of perennials, ground covers, hostas and other plants. Income generated by the plant sale will benefit a local suicide prevention organization. If you’d like to help those impacted by recent tornados, consider giving to Lutheran Disaster Response. LDR is working with those in the impacted states, including local synods, congregations and social ministry organizations, to provide immediate relief and long-term support. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe.

Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
